Seven years, they held up a home with tears and smiles

Seven years, they held up a home with tears and smiles.

For their children, they endured countless sleepless nights.

No matter how difficult life became, they never let go of each other’s hands.

In a small, humble fishing village 🌊, there lives an ordinary family. The father is a hardworking fisherman 🎣 who sets sail before dawn each day, braving the waves to bring back nets full of fish and shrimp to support his family. The mother is a devoted homemaker 👩‍🍳, always busy—washing clothes, cooking meals, caring for the children, and even staying up late at night to prepare medicine for her sick children. Her face may be lined with exhaustion, but her eyes always shine with warmth and determination.

However, fate has been especially cruel to this family 😔. Little Ada, the younger son, was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, a rare genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow in the nervous system, severely affecting his quality of life. His childhood has been filled with pain and uncertainty—he cannot run and play like other children, and even standing up has become a luxury. To make matters worse, he also suffers from a cerebrovascular disease, complicating his condition and requiring frequent medical interventions and long-term care 🏥. Each time Ada cries out in pain, his mother’s heart feels like it’s being torn apart. Yet, all she can do is hold him tightly and whisper, “Don’t be afraid, Mommy is here.”

As they struggled to care for Ada, the family welcomed a new life 👶—a beautiful baby girl. Her arrival brought a brief moment of joy, and her parents named her “Kangkang,” hoping she would grow up healthy and strong. However, their happiness was short-lived. Soon after birth, Kangkang was diagnosed with thalassemia, a severe blood disorder requiring lifelong blood transfusions and treatment 💉. Her skin is pale as paper, and her tiny body is often weak and frail. Her cries are so soft and feeble that they break hearts. Instead of bringing relief, her arrival added another heavy burden to the struggling family 😢.

This family has four children 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, each facing their own health challenges. Besides Ada and Kangkang, the eldest son suffers from chronic malnutrition, leaving him weak and frequently ill, while Kangkang’s condition has caused her to become introverted and sensitive due to the family’s financial struggles. The hospital has become their second home, and the children have spent more time in hospital beds than in their own. For seven years, the parents have never had a full night’s rest. Every day is a battle—running between doctors, praying for miracles, and doing everything they can to give their children a fighting chance 🙏.

The father continues to go out to sea 🎣, tirelessly casting his nets despite meager earnings. He knows that every fish he catches represents hope for his children. Sometimes, the waves grow fierce, tossing his small boat violently, and his hands are rough with calluses from the nets. But he never complains. Meanwhile, the mother shuttles between home and the hospital, her bag always filled with medical records and prescriptions for Ada and Kangkang. She never stops moving, even on the coldest nights, braving the wind to get the medicine her children need.

But the relentless medical expenses have pushed this already struggling family to the brink. Ada’s neurofibromatosis requires regular check-ups and medication, while Kangkang’s thalassemia demands monthly blood transfusions and specialized care. Doctors estimate that their medical bills alone will cost at least RM20,000 per year—an astronomical sum for a family surviving on fishing 💸. The parents have borrowed money from everywhere they can, even selling off their few valuable possessions, but it is still far from enough.

Life was never meant to be this hard, yet fate has forced them to bear this heavy burden 💪. Despite everything, they still cling to hope 🌈. They believe that if they keep pushing forward, brighter days will come. Each night, the mother hums lullabies to help the children sleep, while the father sits by their bedside, gazing at their faces with love and unwavering determination.Theirs is a story of resilience, love, and an unbreakable spirit ❤️.
