Good day everyone, I am Madam G. Rajeswari, the Operations Manager at Openhands Fellowship Care Centre. Openhands Fellowship Care Centre was established at 24 September 2007, and is located Taman Bukit Mutiara, Kajang, Selangor. The centre was set up to save the needy children, to support them in the journey of their life, and to enable them receive a proper education. The Centre admits children aged 3 to 18 years old. Right now, there are 15 girls in the Centre, including some who are having some problems. If any of the residents is sick, we will bring her to the clinic or hospital depending on the severity of the illness. Also, our kitchen will prepare special food for the patient. At Openhands, we offer the residents a home where there is plenty of love, and we also bring them to school. Apart from that, we provide plenty of activities to the girls, such as tuition and music classes, among others. Let me tell you how we started. Many years ago, there was this 2 year-old Chinese boy, whose father passed away and mother also left him. The boy grew up in my home. Now, he is happily married and very successful in his job. Imagine had we not taken care of him back then, where would he be now? There was another story, a homeless family with 5 children, the oldest was only 13 years old. Their father was a drug addict. We decided to set up this Centre for them, and now they are all grown up with good careers. We are very happy to see them succeed in their life. That motivates us to do more for the needy children. As such, we don’t find it hard to run this Centre at all, because for us, it is a joy to take care of the children. The monthly expenditure amounts to about RM 19,000, main made up of food, staff salary and also medical expenses. Actually, our Centre has been planning to buy our own property to house the children, if possible we would like to own a house with 10 rooms in order to accommodate more kids. Also, we would like to have a new van to fetch the kids to schools or go travelling once in a while. Besides, we also need volunteers to help us with gardening.
