We always believe that making old folks happy will ultimately make ourselves happy too.

Hello, my name is Vijaya, I am the founder of Pusat Jagaan Jayaa Sri, Beranang, Selangor. Our centre was formed on 18 July 2018 with the aim of helping orphans and the kids of single mothers, as well as persons with disabilities, including those who lost their limbs, those who suffer from mental illness, or those who need diapers. Currently, there are 30 residents in our centre which included 14 disabled kids and 16 senior citizens who were mainly stroke patients. These residents need special care as some of them can only consume porridge or liquid food, whereas some of them need insulin injection or asthma care. The services offered are customised to meet the different needs of the residents. For kids, they will attend tuition and yoga classes. As for senior citizens, we provide special care and send them for medical appointments. Only half of our residents are able to manage themselves, such as having meals, taking bath and taking medicine. For those who are unable to do so, our staff will help them one by one. If any of the residents are sick, we will send them to the nearest clinic, give them the necessary medication at home, and bring them to the follow-up appointments. However, if the symptoms persist or worsen, we will send them to hospital directly as soon as possible. For my greatest achievement, I would say it is the case of a senior citizen in our centre. He is a throat cancer patient and had been seeking treatment at Serdang Hospital for over a month without any improvement. After I brought him back to our home and took care of him myself, his condition has improved tremendously. Now he can walk and talk like anyone else. On the other hand, my biggest challenge is the case of a 17 year-old teenager. He suffers from visual and hearing impairment, and can only drink Nestum oatmeal now. I hope I can do my best, so that he will be able to see and hear in the future. People are curious whether it would be difficult to care for them. As for me, It’s a challenge but I will be proud of them because they have turned me into a better person. Our total monthly cost is around RM10,000 including RM6,000 for the salary of our staff. Actually our home is now based in a rented premise, but the owner wishes to sell it as soon as possible. Hence, we are planning to buy it over. Due to the impact of the pandemic, we are compelled to raise funds from the general public for this purchase. Finally, on behalf of Pusat Jagaan Jayaa Sri, we would like to thank Panda Love Charity for the kind assistance. Thank you very much.
