Greetings, I am Madam Danapakiyam, caretaker of Pertubuhan Ikhlas Malaysia. It was founded 20 years ago on 14th April 2002. It is located in Lot 18367, Jalan Kelapa, Kajang, Selangor. I serve at this centre because my children and I were cast aside by my former husband on the streets. A welfare home took us in. I am forever grateful, and hence I am serving this centre to give back to the society by helping those who are in the same shoes as me back then. We have 84 elderly members and 6 orphans. Most of them have mental disabilities. Most are semi-independent. Our aim is to provide food, shelter and medication. If they were sick, we would send them to the clinic, or call an ambulance for emergencies. For sure we will be facing some trials and tribulations on taking care of them here as some members are difficult to handle. But eventually I will feel the joy knowing that they are well taken care of, after all, I have been here for 8 years. The centre needs RM40,000 a month for the upkeep and expenses. Our current plans are building a new space for the elderly members, as the owner of one of the two houses wants it back. Hence we will need to extend and renovate the other house to expand its capacity. We also need to repair the roof, kitchen, windows, sliding door, and main gate. We would also need a van to replace the old car which needs to be repaired frequently. I would like to express my greatest gratitude to Panda Love Charity for the assistance!
