Destiny Starting Point Welfare Association Klang (Click Me)

We always believe that making old folks happy will ultimately make ourselves happy too.

I am Pastor Stephan Swamithasan, founder of Destiny Starting Point Welfare Association. This centre was established in 2005, and is located in Taman Chi Liung, Klang. I myself was a drug addict, and really do not wish to see others taking my old patht, therefore I set up this centre to help others. My purpose is to help as much as I can. Currently we have 8 branches, which are Destiny Starting Point 1, Destiny Starting Point 2, Destiny Starting Point 3, House 1 (for men), House 2 (for ladies), House 3 (for HIV positives), kindergarten, and Home School, with a total of 168 residents. They are having various problems, and some require special care, such as HIV positives, stroke patients, paralysed patients, and those who need to wear diapers; others include mental patients, visually-impaired people, and homeless adults and children. Apart from providing medical services, foods, and residence, we also bring residents with health problems to receive treatment at hospitals, and assist residents in searching for their family members. Some residents are able to look after themselves, for instance taking bath, eating, taking medication, and perform daily activities, while some other residents not only cannot look after themselves but also require special care. We currently have nearly half of our residents being unable to look after themselves, and we would do our best in assisting them. As we have some basic medical equipment, we would send whoever falls ill to the nearest hospital immediately if the situation is serious. Otherwise if symptoms are mild, we would observe first, and would get an ambulance to take them to hospital if symptoms persist without improvement. Many have asked me how I feel about managing this centre. To me, it is the greatest achievement if these kids grow up as pillars of society. As for the ill adults, it would be a great achievement for me as well if we successfully restored their health with our care. We helped many people, so if you are interested in these success stories, I would like to cordially invite you to visit our social media pages or our official website. If you ask me whether this job is tough, I would say, yes, it is indeed tough. This is because the huge expenses has begun to be very burdening for us. Imagine needing at least RM56,000 per month for rental, utility bills, and miscellaneous expenses. Furthermore we are having 8 homes, so you can imagine how tough it is to manage, and how great the financial burden is. In order to reduce expenses in the long term, we are currently gathering funds to buy a piece of 5-acre land, in order to unify all the eight branches, making management easier. Last but not least, I would like to urge the public to donate generously to help us in helping those in need. In order to enable more people to get in touch with us and get our help, we have set up our own official website. For more details, please visit our official website www.destinystartingpoint.com. I would also like to thank Panda Love Charity for assisting us generously in our charity works.
